Week 3 Part A: Aesthetics, Design, and Branding

 When promoting yourself or your business, aesthetic, design and branding are key in driving in traffic. It is important to make sure that what you are selling or promoting is being displayed in a way that is catching to the eye. As an example of great design, Apple’s website is known for their keen eye for detail and the aesthetic of their design. When you first enter into their website, you are greeted with a dark design showcasing their latest phone. It is clear through scrolling that this website was done professionally. The only part of their design that I would critique is how large everything is. Although it is catching the eye, I would prefer space to see things verus it being overly zoomed in.


Next, I visited the Toyota website. Ironically enough, I enjoyed their display more than Apple. The first thing you see when you open their page is three different versions of their vehicle. The sizing and spacing were pleasing to the eye and the important information was bolded nicely. The information, make and models of the car were located as you scroll through the drop-down menu. I really enjoyed the links and how they had all the information easy to find about different features and model cars. To me, I personally didn’t find anything wrong with their website and I think they did a great job. This website was definitely professionally done.


With many great designs comes many bad ones as well. Rover P6 is a website for MGBD parts. Now, when first entering this website it is very busy. The colors are all over the place and the words are oversized and choppy. There are red boxes with signs passing through and your eyes are drawn everywhere. You cannot focus and it's very distracting. This website was clearly not professionally done and needs more work and less design. Another website that was clearly not done professionally is Penny Juice. Although it was not as bad as Rover P6, the colors are still too bright and distracting and the design is basic. This brand is apparently for children, however, you don’t see the product. The page is nothing but kids and does not have enough information to bring people in.
