Week 13 Part A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

Online advertising is such a crucial part of the world we live in today. Especially during current times as we have been in a pandemic for over a year now. The transition to online marketing is higher than it's been before. This tool is one of the only things allowing businesses to stay open and if used properly, will allow new businesses to advertise effectively as well.

In the article “2020 Facebook Algorithm Can Impact Your Brand Strategy” the author talks about the benefits of Facebook. Businesses over the years, have had the luxury of being able to promote themselves on social media platforms. This advantage has allowed businesses to reach clients they normally would not, thanks to Facebook's algorithm. The beauty of its algorithm is that it promotes businesses that Facebook users want to see. I can attest to this fact, because I always find myself looking at the side bar and ads between posts, wondering how they knew I wanted certain products. This advertisement acts as a way to entice users to want to buy. The beauty of this too, is that if an ad does not apply to you, you can simply make sure you never see it again. Facebook's algorithm can also recognize whether a person's content is low-quality or not. People can also pay for ad space, which will also help their business.

The next article entitled “How Will the Latest Facebook Algorithm Change Affect Marketers” discusses the fact that posts will not be reached organically anymore. From 2015 to date, this approach to advertising has plummeted tremendously. Basically the amount of interaction on a post has the potential to boost its credibility. Whether someone comments or responds through messenger, all these things play a role. Engagement is everything with this algorithm so interaction in the online world is crucial!

After reading the articles I noticed how the advertisements are really geared towards myself. They always have to do with health or fitness. I also took a look at my moms feed and realized her page was geared more towards shopping. They make it very easy to click, sign up and find the links to the items that catch your eye as well.

Personally, I feel as if online advertisement is more effective because you can’t run from it. No matter where you scroll through, it will be in your face. Although, sometimes that might be annoying it is the best tool for businesses. Not only for exposure, but accessibility as well. Being able to reach an audience is one thing, but how you get them after the fact is also very crucial. It allows you to capture their information, introduce them to your website or product and attract more customers overall.
